Bidding to win, bidding to support Isabelle's House

AAWD held their annual silent auction and wine tasting in an effort to raise money for Isabelle’s House. Although the numbers are still out and not yet determined, the night was a huge success. Kim and I attended and were both quite touched by the number of people who donated items to the auction – many people who donated have long been supporters of Isabelle’s House.

Digging Deep

Last weekend we had our first phase of Project Leap with a blitz on Jaye’s yard. Thanks to the team at Good Natured Gardening and their generous donation of services, we were able to recover – or should I say uncover – the yard that layed beneath 3 years worth of fallen leaves. While Mark trimmed trees, bushes, vines and more – Juan and Joe blew, bagged, and piled up over 50 bags of yard debris. Pat took over the task of palm trees and more vines while Miriam, Kim, Brittany and myself tackled the back yard. In the end the task was monumentous and bigger than we had anticipated – leaving us with the committment to return for a 2nd phase to the yard. Be sure to check out all the photos to see the yard go from beast to beauty!

MUSC’s AAWD raises money for Isabelle’s House

Dakota speaks to MUSC future dentists about Isabelles House.

AAWD is an association that dedicates itself to enhancing and promoting unique participation and leadership among women in dentistry. Networking, education, and support for women dental students by sharing perspectives and knowledge are part of AAWD’s ideals. The MUSC chapter of AAWD works to support and promote women in the field of dentistry and advancement in their profession. Each year AAWD sponsors a number of programs, socials, and fundraisers to benefit dentistry and the community. This year AAWD is holding a wine tasting/silent auction in an effort raise money for Isabelle’s House.

In March Dakota went to MUSC to talk to the members about Isabelle’s House and future projects.

Good Natured Gardening springs into action for Project Leap

Working on a game plan for Project Leap. Kim and I met with Jaye to determine our best approach to her many needs. Tomorrow I meet with Whitney from Good Natured Gardening who has volunteered her company to assist in our project. They will be doing our yard clean up, a donation valued at close to $700! We are so grateful for Whitney and the Good Natured Gardening team. They came through for us on our Adopt a Mom project and now for this one. Jaye’s yard will then be our first phase of this multi layered project. Once the yard is cleaned we will create a sanctuary for her to retreat within and find some peace.
